Pretty in De Rust

De Rust is a pretty little town in the Karoo other side of Oudtshoorn. The little town has interesting little shops and restaurants scattered along the main road.

A picturesque village situated at the southern entrance to Meiringspoort ... it oozes unexpected charm .... like these donkey taxis ...

I was charmed by the old houses there ... a lot of them lovingly restored.

a green one ... many of the houses had the curved veranda roofs like this one ...

... and a pinky / peach one with white trim ...

.... lemon and lilac ....

and a white and red one ... arn't they beautiful?

Accommodation seems plentiful .. and some a bit different like this one ... ever thought about sleeping in an ox wagon?

Sleeping in an ox wagon will take you back to the days of the Voortrekkers

Die Gat Guest House

has a variety of accommodation and facilities to surprise one and has been in the Schoeman family since the 1800's

''n Solder' of an old house ... of the many quaint shops in the Main Road ..
